This shade resembled my natural lip shade almost perfectly so, with it on, it just looked like my lips…but better. I felt a slight sensation because of the plumping component but it was nothing close to lip plumpers I have used in the past — it was more of a refreshing, minty feeling than a tingling burn.
Not to mention, the hydration levels in this lip gloss almost make it feel more like a lip treatment like a mask or balm. This makes sense because, according to cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, the formula is loaded with moisturizing and hydrating ingredients. The list of ingredients includes everyone’s favorite hydrator, hyaluronic acid, as well and goji and vitamin E which, according to Robinson, acts as a moisturizer. To top it all off, there is Tarte’s namesake maracuja oil, which is rich in vitamin C, giving lips a smoother and brighter base with use.
While applying, I also noticed how buildable this formula is. With one swipe, you definitely get full coverage but the pigment will get more vibrant the more you layer.
Well, there you have it. TikTok did it again. I was officially influenced and I have zero regrets about it. The Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump is available now on tartecosmetics.com and sephora.com for $21.
